Is there a security reason why everyone is using AIM in a virtual machine? Or is that just nostalgia?

I run most older software in VMs simply because that's the environment they're designed for. For me, they seem to work better in their native environments.

Sometimes it's fun to fight older stuff to work in 7/8/10. Sometimes I just want it to work lol.

Well if you want full nostalgia i recommend Virtualbox
(or some old machine with pentium 4 and windows xp)

I'm personally running AIM 5 on Windows 7 64-bit, but that's just because I don't want to use up so many resources as a VM does.
Besides, I have an actual Windows 98 computer for the authentic experience. ;)

is this my signature or is my signature myself? --me, trying to confuse myself

I saw on the internet archive website that they come out with a version of aim for linux but i can't find it on any of the oldversion websites anywhere. I would do anything to see the source code of aim
