Is this meant to dodge some... AOL/Oath entanglements in the future?

Based on my total inability up to this point to contact anyone who even knows about AIM let alone knows about how to deal with it at Oath, I'm going to say they there's not a whole lot to worry about... for now. Of course in typical corporate idiocy, if AIM Phoenix (there, I said it) gets big enough they may get pissy they shut everything down.

But how? They can't reroute the DNS, or have physical access to the server... unless you mean legally, cease and desist. In that case, I wouldn't want to continue anyway if someone's panties are in a wad about it... I just can't figure out why they would care if they don't want anything to do with it anymore.

I was saying they would be pissy that someone else is having success with AIM after they shut it down thinking it was pointless. Of course this can't be shut down and in fact if they tried it'd probably encourage more people to do it.

Never underestimate corporate stupidity. Hell, some people may even be fired for shutting it down, in such a hypothetical situation, after all, it wasn't *may* decision to do it, I knew it would resurrect the entire time, said dumb ass corporate executive.
