Analog TV Project

Hi, Yesterday I experimented with an old Tv and a RF Modulator to create a mini Analog TV station, I managed to get it to work pretty well with a bit of static on the picture and clear audio by touching together the transmitting antenna and the TV antenna allowing me to recive a signal. I used a DVD player as a video source. Now I do recommend using a amplifier to make it so you don't have to touch the 2 antennas together, Just make sure the signal can't get outside your home because of FCC regulations.

This is what happens when you have no internet for 3 days and have to depend on a cell phone to post on the forums. don't do no internet, kids!

Depending on where you live it may not be technically legal for you to transmit that.

[edit]Oof, I just read the last sentence again, so yeah depending on the power used to transmit and the frequencies used. It's unlikely that you'll interrupt much of anything but it would still technically be illegal in the states.[/edit]

I used to run a pirate radio station and briefly a pirate TV station. It's very fun, but as long as you don't do things that leak into other frequencies or annoy people, most people probably won't ever notice in the tri-house area. Especially with analogue TV since that's not even broadcast anymore in the US though you have to be careful depending on your modulator because you can accidentally end up messing up FM radio.

Well its just a normal RF modulator that you would use on an old tv so nothing fancy and an indoor antenna that only seems to hold up the cable

Well over the air TV signals are still legally required to be broadcast by all cable companies in the continental U.S. They're just encoded digitally, so you would need an HD antenna to properly decode them.

If it's just in your local yard area, you probably won't bother anybody. But when somebody turns on their microwave you'll know!

Yeah i have it all set up in my closet and what would happen if someone turns on a microwave? And also i have to have the tv antenna touching the small indoor antenna i use with my modulator to pick up anything at all

There's a possibility it would negatively affect your propagation! (it would interfere with your reception)

Similar effects can happen to your WiFi signal as well; considering those are also radio waves.

Well the only propagation I have is 1 inch away I get a slight image but ill try with the microwave on and see what happens
