New Aim 5.1 User here...question

So i just got aim installed working on 5.1 with windows xp. signed in and all seems good, but is there a way on 5.1 to join chat rooms that people may be talking in to get a chat going? if so how?

id imagine best compatibility from aim 5.9 client.
