AIM 5.1 shows up in taskmgr but no interface.

I start up AIM 5.1 (compatibility mode is on windows xp sp3) and it shows up in background processes in taskmgr.exe
but nothing shows up?? it atleast doesn't lock up my computer, but yeah, does someone know how to fix this??

It's hard to say, I ran 5.0 / 5.1 in 7 x64 without any compatibility mode settings, I won't go near windows 8/10 so I don't know what has changed as far as win32 API.

Did you uncheck all of the boxes during installation like AOL Explorer? If then reinstall AIM and have AOL Explorer checked. I had this issue too and learned that it would hang.

I run 5.1 and up on Windows 10x64. It sounds like the program is hanging on you. Here is the fix.

Use aimtamer.exe (under Downloads) to kill the aim.exe process. Then you need to swap out the old aimapi.dll in your aim installation folder. etc, "C:Program Filesaim 5-1" and then you need to replace it with a patched version of aimapi.dll

- There is a link for it under the Windows 10 thread. I think I recall the posted fix was from Xeon? I can't remember. I vaguely remember it was due to a hang caused by that dynamic link library file. I think it was RDBBLoadTBstr
