cannot connect on AIM 4.1 (macOS)

I'm trying to connect to AIM through SheepShaver (windows version), and every time I try to complete the connection and sign in I get a message saying "Cannot connect to the AOL Instant Messenger (SM) service through your proxy server. Check your proxy settings and try again. [-3158]

I've tried connecting through both provided urls and nothing has worked. Does AIM just not work through SheepShaver, or am I doing something stupid?

EDIT: I think i've got it close to working now by fiddling with the settings a little, but now every time I try to connect SheepShaver decides to crash on me. So, I'm guessing that's just a SheepShaver thing.

I'm having the same problem on my iBook, I wanted to set up AIM 4.1 but nothing is working... Everyone is using AIM 4.7 on Mac OS but I don't see a Mac OS version of AIM 4.7, only 4.1.

I can't even get any MacOS version of AIM to install. Am I missing something?
