Trying to get AIM to work on a Quadra 8100 and I'm trying to find the host URL setting to change it but I can't find it. Help please?

I can give a image of the settings menu if that will help.

Talk to me if you can get AIM to work on Mac OS 8.1 or any other classic systems.

Ok so I have looked around andI have gotten somwhere but it still doesn't work. You can go to your text editor and paste this

login.oscar.aol.com. A 184.15.124.70

slogin.oscar.aol.com. A 184.15.124.70

toc.oscar.aol.com. A 184.15.124.70

then you save this to your prefences folder on your drive. You then go to your control panel and then go to TCP/IP. After that hit CMD U then to advanced click the hosts button then navigate to the hosts file.

But this is where I get stuck, the aim client then sits indefinetly and doesn't log in.

If you know the solution to this please respond it would help lots and I will try to get this thread to be pinned. ^-^

I do believe it is the address to iwarg.ddns.net and the host file. I think it should be telling the client to go to iwarg and not the AOL addresses.

I myself am not entirely sure I found this on a similar thread but they weren't entirely clear on what to do. But maybe the IP address has changed since it was posted which may be probable.

Now thinking about it are there any host applications to edit host files for classic Mac OS?

that most certainly isn't the right IP, which is very subject to change. thus the need for the DNS..
