aim 5.1 nearly destroyed my computer.

so basically I had a windows 10 computer with 8 gigabytes of ram with both aim pro and 5.1 installed. whenever I click on aim 5.1, aim pro opens instead and then my computer hangs. the desktop icons disappear or they become blank files, the taskbar icons stay there or disappear, and the start button stopped working. I uninstalled both of them. is it still safe to download aim 5.1 without aim pro and what could have caused this?

Just install AIM Tamer on the Downloads page. Worked for me.

Using 5.0. I'm up to chat anytime I'm online. Add me please: GoldenChewie42

the problem is, I can't click on anything and everything stops responding, so how will I get to aim tamer?

5.x seems to have some kind of strange behavior that sometimes causes the explorer shell to freeze on newer windows versions, this freezing doesn't appear to effect other running programs that are not reliant on the explorer shell, thus why AIMTamer is still responsive when this happens.

5.1 was terrible for me as well. For what it's worth, I don't seem to have the same issues with 5.0, in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode.

On AIM, partying like it's 1999.
