"buddyscanner" seemed to have valid contact list entries but they were all assigned to a group that didn't exist somehow.. maybe you had all these assigned to a group and then removed that group after?

I think what might of happened is the server did not
delete the names like i thought it would.
there were a few times id remove a group and all names
from my buddylist thinking the server would do that too.

Can't we mass delete names like that ?
(like just select a group full of names and delete it)

or does it have to be done one name at a time ?

oh also thank you buddyscanner finally signed off i see.
doesnt appear online now, i signed on to it then off and it went off this time, just thought id mention that.

well I guess that would be the logical effect of deleting a group. apparently in the rush to get a stable and decently feature complete server working I overlooked that small detail of the SSI class.

You did a great job so far i think. (thanks for that)
but can i assume that small detail will be taken care of ?

That does kind of explain why there were all the
strange names and such on both of my names.
things wernt getting deleted as expected.

so far buddyscanner seems to be working perfect now.
BUT zshawnp keeps losing added groups and names now.
i have to re-load a saved buddy's list when i sign on.
when i shut zshawnp off i lose added groups & names.

then you are probably creating a group and adding contacts to that group in the same instance. I just checked and for some dumb reason the client itself isn't including the new group in the SSI info add SNAC, only the new contacts. you have to create a group, exit the contact list editor, re-enter the contact list editor, then add contacts to the new group. I still don't know why this is happening but it's not directly the server's fault from what I can gather, the group name and ID isn't present in the raw data coming in unless it's added by itself first.

@iWarg
so far i tried as you suggested,
I add new group exited editor go back in again to add names,
then i would sign off, close aim and log back on aim,
BUT when i restart aim what ever i added was gone.
and what i do have is 2 default groups 'sort' and 'offline'.
nothing i add sticks.

I even tried reloading my saved list but same results.
I also tried entering the add buddy list tool and just
adding the group first, id add the group, exit the editor.
then go back in the editor to add another group then exit.
but on closing aim then restarting aim those are gone too.

@iWarg
I just tried it again & everything is working now.
I was able to add 12 at 1 time in the editor & they stayed.
you do not need to do them as you suggested before.
(adding a group/name then exit editor and go back in etc)

so maybe you want to delete the post in announcements,
as it dont seem relative anymore to add groups/buddies.
thanks for fixing it.
