Don't use an underscore in an AIM Screen name. The AIM Client will not let you message anyone with an Underscore. Pidgin users can message users with an underscore.

File Transfers do not work on any client.

Group Chats cannot be joined, on Either Client.

I am using Pidgin, can you share how?

Pidgin probably explains it, since iWarg focuses more on getting the official clients working than the third party clients, and who knows how Pidgin implemented the file transfer function. Just in case, however, try using the Phoenix port mapper program in the Downloads section and restart Pidgin.

just reading the comments in the pidgin source tree demonstrates how confused as hell the developers are about the protocol half the time, it's a fun read.

I'm a Linux user. I have a vested interest in seeing to it that this is as Linux friendly as possible, and what is learned here improves the overall situation for Linux users with crossplatform chatting.

I think Asha means Linux as in native Linux support, so no WINE, etc. I do agree that support on that platform could be improved here (and similar projects) for third party clients. Even ones outside of Linux should get some treatment too.

Sadly that's hard to achieve since most people here I believe are mainly Windows users, including iWarg, and users on other platforms compared to those are a minority, so support on platforms like Linux and Mac OS gets overlooked a lot. The least that can be done right now is have people like Asha report feedback and see if iWarg can accommodate. At least the issue will be known by then.
